Let's Face It
Aging happens! As years pass, a combination of genetics, gravity, and lifestyle, cause our faces lose their fullness and elasticity. Years of smiles and frowns become permanently etched into our skin leaving lines, creases, and wrinkles.
Types of Wrinkles- Static versus Dynamic
Lines appear in part because collagen beneath the skin's surface starts to break down. The majority of these so-called %u201Cstatic%u201D wrinkles can be treated with volumizing injectable fillers. This safe and effective procedure softens and erases wrinkles to restore a more youthful contour. In addition to reducing lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers can be used to enhance lips and cheeks, and correct facial dissymmetry without surgery. Injections, when done properly, are fast and have immediate results with little to no recovery time.
Other wrinkles appear with the movement of our facial muscles. Frown lines between our eyes can become particularly annoying, making us look angry or worried even when we are not. These "dynamic" wrinkles don't respond to resurfacing or fillers. Instead, Botox® or Dysport® is used to temporarily relax these muscles, safely eliminating these wrinkles while suspending the aging process in the treated area.
SERVICES
Botox® is a highly purified protein from a family of naturally occurring muscle-relaxing compounds. Serendipitously discovered, the ophthalmologist Dr. Jean Carruthers noticed that her patients treated for spasm of the eyelid with Botox® were looking fabulously wrinkle%u2013free. It didn't take long for the product to become popular. In the 1990's, Botox® was being used across the country for cosmetic applications, and was finally FDA approved for aesthetic use in 2002.
Dysport®n May 2009, and after years of anticipation, the U.S. FDA finally approved Dysport® for cosmetic use. Dysport® is now the only competitor to Botox® cosmetic in the U.S. Dysport® has been successfully used in Europe and the Americas for over 15 years. Like Botox®, Dysport® is injectioned at the site of wrinkles smooth and soften the facial wrinkles and lines caused by excessive action of these muscles. The result is a face that looks fresher and younger.
Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Both Restylane® and Juvederm® are safe and effective, non-surgical facial treatments designed to slow and hide the effects of aging. Hyaluronic acid filler injections are composed of a clear hyaluronic acid-based gel that not only fills in lines and wrinkles in the face, but also add moisture and lubrication to the skin, making it feel younger and more comfortable. Results are particularly effective around the mouth and nose and are shown to last six months or more. Juvederm® boasts results that last as long as 1 year. A series of injections under the skin instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. The procedure can be administered with local anesthetic and takes anywhere from a few minutes to a half hour. Tiffany can discuss with you which product may meet your specific needs.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) Filler
Radiesse® is a next generation dermal filler that volumizes the facial structure. Radiesse® treatment restores a natural, youthful look that last for a year or more. Radiesse® has been proven a safe and effective treatment for filling and correcting moderate to severe smile lines, nasolabial folds, loss of facial volume, and wrinkles around the nose and mouth in much the same way as other fillers. However, unlike other fillers, Radiesse stimulates the body to produce its own new collagen. So it not only provides immediate, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, but also long-lasting and beautiful results.

FAQ
Is Botox® Safe?
Botox® made by Allergan, Inc., is an incredibly safe product with a 20 year track record. The safety of the FDA approved indications is now well established in millions of treatments. As with any medical treatment, side effects are possible. Most common are temporary redness and swelling of the skin. The brief treatment may be associated with momentary mild discomfort for some patients. A little bit of bleeding and some bruising is not uncommon. More rarely you may experience headache, allergic reaction, infection, and sensation of facial heaviness or a change in facial expression. The treatment may very rarely cause a temporary drooping of the upper eyelid. Additionally, some types of wrinkles may not respond well to treatment.
The bottom line, go to reputable healthcare providers, and if the price seems too good to be true it probably is%u2014no one is giving real Botox® away.
What can I expect during my Botox® or Dysort treatment?
A simple, nonsurgical, 10-minute treatment consisting of a few tiny injections smooth's moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines. Redness and mild swelling are common and generally disappear in 30 minutes to an hour. Within days, results become noticeable and typically last 3 to 4 months.
I am very confused about how Botox® is priced. Some places offer it by the unit and some places charge by the area. What's the difference?
Don't be scammed by spas or offices offering BOTOX® by the area or syringe. If you get this service priced these ways, you would have no idea how much BOTOX® was being administered. Unlike dermal fillers that are packaged from the manufacturer in a prefilled syringe, Allegan supplies BOTOX® in a dry form and is reconstituted prior to injecting. Therefore, depending on the injector's desired dilution, one syringe could contain as much as 50 units of BOTOX® or as little as no BOTOX® !! No matter what method of charge is used, you should insist on being told the total number of units being used to treat you with so you have a basis for future comparison.
Botox® or Dysport®? Which one is better?
Dysport® is made from the same active ingredient as Botox®, Clostridium botulinim toxin type A. However, the manufacturing process of Dysport® is slightly different, resulting in slight differences. For instance, Dysport® may provide a little faster onset of action and tends to 'spread' when compared to Botox®. Some feel this spread gives a more natural result. Botox®, on the other hand, tends to remain more localized, allowing for greater precision in the treatment area, but possibly requiring more injections. There are also claims that Dysport® results might last up to a month beyond that of Botox®. The unit dosage of each product is different and accordingly different numbers of units are used to achieve comparable results. Discussing the differences and your specific treatment concerns with Tiffany will help you decide which product to choose.
